Thank you for visiting my web site. My name is Joe Aurelio and I live in Gray, Tennessee. Gray is east of Knoxville, almost to the Virgina state line. We moved here after I retired from Perot Systems in Plano Texas.
Before I retired, I was a technical writer and proposal manager for large telecommunications and computer service outsourcing companies. By training I am a RF engineer, but I havent been a practicing engineer in many years. As an engineer radio is not a foreign subject for me but it has changed a lot since I went to school. I have always enjoyed the challenge of learning and it has helped me throughout my career and I expect it will help as I relearn radio technology.
When we retired, the XYL and I decided to move back to Tenessee to be with my mother-in-law who is is in her early 90 and still keeping house. So we moved from the big city to a much slower pace and place here in Gray. Here in the hills of east Tennessee, I have almost an acre high on a ridge with a beautiful view to the west. The nearest mountains to my west are just a bit closer than the horizon so propagation to the west is almost ideal. Now to the east, I don't live high enough on the ridge, so I am blocked to the east. Propagation to the NE and our close neighbors in the Carolinas is pretty spotty. I can work to the far North East (Maine, New Hampshire etc) but there is hardly any hams on the air north of Boston, at least on PSK.
