After several rainy, cloudy days the solar battery system is down to 12 volts. The PV panel is not providing enough juice on cloudy days to recharge the battery. Of course I have been using the radio a lot to try and prove out the system. In the past week I have made 30+ contacts on PSK and JT65 so the battery has been well exercised.
I was over at Northern Tool Wednesday when I got a chance to escape for a while and do some shopping. I picked up a 15Watt PV panel. Hopefully I will be able to install it next week and get the system tuned up.
I also need to figure out why the vertical is not tuning properly. I am seeing very high SWR readings on all bands - I hope I haven't killed the SCG coupler. I just got it back from repair a year ago. I would hate to have to send it out again. If I cant get it working shortly I will take the vertical down and hang the wire Mystery antenna for the winter.
